Well, here we go again! The Teen Worship Team has the “Teen Mass” on Oct 17th at the 10:30am, and the pastor has been giving us permission to incorporate the “Propers” of the mass. This is my attempt to bring out this “treasure” of the liturgy. Note: the hymnal we use, “Breaking Bread” by OCP apparently uses the “Missal Propers” for the spoken mass, which differ from the “Gradual Propers” typically used for the sung mass. (I got this information from Jeffrey Tucker over at the Chant Cafe blog, make sure you go there: www.chantcafe.com) As a result the “Antiphon” comes from what’s in Breaking Bread so the people can sing along, but the psalm verses come from the “Gradual Propers” as I found them at the “Towards a Singing of the Propers” Open Source project found at the www.musicasacra.com Forums CHECK THAT OUT! Also note, this is an attempt to express the text that the Church has prescribed for the liturgy in a way that may speak to our social context – a blending of chant and contemporary Christian worship, if you will.
