Texting and Web Shopping—Oh My!

Texting and Web Shopping—Oh My!

Just a few years ago I loudly proclaimed to my kids that I would never “text a message” to their cell phones. If they wanted to communicate with me they had to TALK to me. Sending a text was simply too inconvenient and not personal enough. Not only that, it took me longer to enter a text versus calling the recipient on speed dial and having a thirty second conversation. Yes, calling each other was definitely the best way to communicate, or so I thought at the time.

You guessed it—I had to move past the dark ages due to sheer necessity. I had a situation where I needed to reach all three of my children at the same time and the best way to do that was to text them. I don’t remember what the situation was, but I do remember my daughter texting me back, “Who are you, and where is my mother?!” Although I laughed at the comment I have to admit I was pretty proud of myself for text messaging. In fact, I now have unlimited texting on my cell phone plan. It was the beginning of a new era for me.

My next hurdle was online shopping. Sure, the internet was great for information, but shopping—never! You see I pride myself on being a great bargain hunter. I also had this wild assumption that in order to buy anything I needed to see it and touch it.  Thanks to our online customers, I was propelled into online shopping due to my work here at St. Anthony Messenger Press. Our customers would call us in Customer Service asking about books and orders and discussing our online catalog. Once I understood the basics, that was it—I was hooked!  It’s a beautiful thing—information that is fast, products that meet my needs, and the convenience of shopping from home.

Recently, our new Web catalog was launched at St. Anthony Messenger Press! You have to check it out at Catalog.AmericanCatholic.org.

There you will find a large assortment of books, audiobooks, videos, parish resources, a national Catholic magazine, and much more. The search engine is so much faster, and we offer special prices on many items as well as promotions that were never offered before.

I am honored and proud to be a part of our new online catalog. A large part of our mission here at St. Anthony Messenger Press is to evangelize, inspire, and inform those who search for God and seek a richer Catholic, Christian, human life. I feel that our new online catalog meets our customer’s needs and our mission.

Again, check it out! I hope you will enjoy it as much as I do.
